Cholpon-Ata is located on the north shore of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan. It is the administration center of Issyk-Kul region and 240km far from Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan. Population is about 11,000 and main industry is TOURISM. Cholpon-Ata is well known as a summer resort. There are several good beaches and accommodations, which provide good services with reasonable price. Many tourists from former Soviet Union countries come for holidays and have medical treatment in sanatorium, even in winter.
Cholpon-Ata has great nature and history. North part of the city is surrounded by the beautiful mountains and at the foot of them; there are petro glyphs with rocks, which are written more than 4000years ago.
As this favorable environment, citizens and tourists enjoy the comfortable climate. Every season has each good aspect.
Spring: Apples and apricots' flowers blossom
Summer: Swimming in the Lake!
Autumn: So many apples and colored leaves
Winter: less snow and warmer than any other city in Kyrgyzstan
Also, rich harvest of grains, fruits and vegetables are specialty of
Cholpon-Ata. In summer, all area of Cholpon-Ata harvests tons of apricots and many buyers from foreign country buy theses apricots! In autumn, people enjoy apples. They are really juicy and very cheap! You should try at least once!
